In a significant move to enhance the lives of Emiratis, Dubai has unveiled a new residential area named Latifa City, paying homage to the mother of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. This development is part of a broader initiative, the Dubai Social Agenda 33, which aims to prioritize citizens, their families, and overall social stability.

Latifa City

 Latifa City: Dh5.5 billion City

The announcement comes as Dubai allocates a substantial Dh5.5 billion for 3,500 plots of land and 2,300 ready-to-move-in houses, reinforcing the commitment to citizens’ welfare. The decision to name the new residential area after Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan reflects Sheikh Mohammed’s deep connection to his mother, evident in his dedicated reflection on her humanitarian contributions in his book ‘My Story.’

Latifa City

In a recent statement, Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the centrality of citizens, their families, and social stability in the government’s plans. “Family is the cornerstone of the nation and the foundation of all development plans. Our ultimate objective is to enhance the quality of citizens’ lives for a brighter future,” he declared.

Latifa City, occupying an expansive 40 million square feet, is set to become a vibrant community for Emiratis. Ownership of the 2,700 plots earmarked for citizens in Latifa City and the additional 800 plots in the Al Yalayis 5 area will be transferred to eligible Dubai citizens in February. Alongside these plots, 2,300 new houses in Al Khawaneej 2, Al Aweer, Wadi Al Amardi, and Hatta will offer ready-to-move-in options, catering to the diverse needs of the citizens.

The strategic allocation of housing resources reflects Dubai’s commitment to addressing the evolving needs of its growing population. The development of Latifa City, in particular, symbolizes a tribute to the significance of family and maternal influence in shaping the vision for a prosperous future.

Dubai Social Agenda 33

This landmark announcement is part of a series of projects approved for 2024 under the Dubai Social Agenda 33, a comprehensive program launched earlier this month by Sheikh Mohammed. With a budget of Dh208 billion, the program aims to double the number of Emirati families in the emirate within the next decade, emphasizing the government’s commitment to social well-being and community development.

Latifa City

Latifa City, with its thoughtful design and dedicated spaces for Emiratis, is poised to become a model for sustainable and community-centric urban planning. The inclusion of green spaces, recreational areas, and essential amenities underscores Dubai’s vision for creating holistic living environments that promote social cohesion and well-being.

As the city embraces Latifa City, it not only marks the beginning of a new chapter in residential development but also emphasizes the enduring influence of family values on the vision of Dubai’s leadership. The naming of the city after Sheikha Latifa bint Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan adds a personal touch to the urban landscape, reinforcing the profound impact of family relationships on the cultural and social fabric of the Emirates.

In conclusion, the unveiling of Latifa City stands as a testament to Dubai’s commitment to prioritizing its citizens and fostering a sense of community and belonging. By honoring the legacy of Sheikh Mohammed’s mother, the city sends a powerful message about the enduring importance of family values in shaping the trajectory of urban development and social progress in the dynamic landscape of Dubai.
