UAE Weather: The tranquility of the weekend in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) was disrupted as rain and thunderstorms swept through Abu Dhabi and Dubai, prompting authorities to issue a yellow weather alert. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) warned of strong winds reaching up to 55kph, accompanied by blowing dust and sand.

The NCM issued orange and yellow alerts due to the impact of strong winds, rainfall, and rough sea conditions in the northern emirates. Light showers were reported in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah, and parts of Umm Al Quwain on Friday morning, with the alert remaining in effect until 6 pm.

Abu Dhabi Police issued a cautionary warning to motorists, urging them to drive with caution and adhere to variable speed limits displayed on signs. The unpredictable weather conditions require increased vigilance on the roads to ensure the safety of commuters.

Immediate Impact and Forecast

While UAE Weather temperatures in Dubai and Abu Dhabi are expected to reach 28ºC and 29ºC respectively, intermittent cloud cover is predicted throughout the day. The rainfall in the northern emirates is anticipated to subside by midnight, as per global weather forecaster Windy.

Weekend UAE Weather Outlook

The NCM forecasts a significant decrease in UAE Weather temperatures on Saturday, with lows reaching 15ºC in the mountains and 18ºC along the coast. Cloudy weather is expected to persist, accompanied by continued strong winds of up to 60 kph throughout the weekend. The Oman Sea and Arabian Gulf are anticipated to experience very rough conditions.

Extended Weather Outlook

Continuing into Monday, similar weather conditions are expected, with wind speeds reaching up to 50kph. Abu Dhabi and Dubai are projected to experience highs of 24ºC and 22ºC respectively, with lows dipping to 17ºC.

Earlier in the week, Abu Dhabi Police issued safety reminders to drivers, emphasizing the importance of following safe practices, maintaining focus, and avoiding valleys and pooled water. Additionally, the traffic department advised drivers to keep windows clean, ensure proper maintenance of lights, and replace old tires.

Temperatures in the UAE have been steadily decreasing throughout the month, aligning with the typical seasonal shift. The lowest recorded temperature this week was 9.9ºC at Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah on Sunday.
