Sharjah’s ‘Week of the Stars’: Football Legends Illuminate the Emirate’s Sports and Tourism Landscape”

In an unprecedented blend of sports and tourism, Sharjah is gearing up to host the inaugural ‘Week of the Stars,’ a four-day extravaganza set to captivate football enthusiasts and tourists alike. Organized by the Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority (SCTDA), this premier event, under the patronage of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Chairman of the Sharjah Executive Council, will showcase over 200 athletes, including football legends such as Carles Puyol, Francesco Totti, and Fabio Cannavaro. From January 10 to 13, the emirate will witness an array of competitions, friendly matches, and tourist excursions, marking a significant milestone in Sharjah’s developmental journey in both the tourism and sports sectors.

Legends Padel Tour and Week of the Stars:

Kicking off on January 10, the Legends Padel Tour will feature 16 distinguished international football stars and legends competing at the World Padel Academy in Sharjah. This unique tournament, organized by SCTDA, aims to highlight the symbiotic relationship between sports and tourism, attracting attention to Sharjah’s vibrant offerings. The Sheraton Sharjah Beach Resort & Spa will also host a thrilling padel-tennis tournament concurrently, adding to the excitement surrounding the ‘Week of the Stars.’

Sharjah International Footgolf Tournament:

The climax of the event will unfold at the Sharjah Golf and Shooting Club from January 11 to 13, with the ‘Sharjah International Footgolf Championship.’ Here, 23 football legends will join forces with 185 leading footgolf players to compete for a substantial prize pool of $30,000. This championship is not only considered the most significant of its kind globally but promises to attract a broad international audience, positioning Sharjah as a hub for top-tier sporting events.

Night of the Stars:

The showpiece event, ‘Night of the Stars,’ scheduled for January 12 at the Sharjah Sports Club stadium, will feature a friendly football match showcasing 23 elite international retired football stars and legends. This star-studded encounter is expected to draw in millions of sports enthusiasts and fans, solidifying Sharjah’s position on the global sports map.
