Royal Challengers Bengaluru has made the dream of ‘Ee Sala Cup Namde’ come true, which means ‘this year the cup is ours’. RCB has got the joy of title after 18 years. The team captained by Rajat Patidar has become the champion of IPL 2025. Bengaluru defeated Punjab by 6 runs in the final of the 18th season on Tuesday. RCB set a target of 191, in response to which PBKS could score only 184 runs after losing seven wickets. When RCB was moving towards winning the first IPL trophy, star batter Virat Kohli’s tears of joy came. He has been a part of RCB since the inception of IPL in 2008.

Chasing the target, Punjab Kings got off to a good start. Priyansh Arya (24 off 19 balls) and Prabhsimran Singh (26 off 22 balls) added 43 runs for the first wicket. After this, PBKS lost wickets at regular intervals. Captain Shreyas Iyer (1) did not bat. Josh Inglis (39 off 23 balls) played a good innings but did not get much support from the other end. Azmatullah Omarzai (1), Marcus Stoinis (6), Nehal Wadhera (15) were out cheaply. Shashank Singh fought till the end. He scored an unbeaten 61 off 30 balls, which included three fours and 6 sixes. Punjab needed 30 runs to win in the last over. Josh Hazlewood, Yash Dayal and Romario Shepherd took one wicket each in the final over. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Krunal Pandya took two wickets each.
Earlier, Royal Challengers Bengaluru scored 190 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Virat Kohli scored the most runs for RCB. After coming as an opener, he played an innings of 43 runs in 35 balls, which included three fours. RCB, who came to bat after losing the toss, did not have a good start. Phil Salt (16 off 9 balls) lost his wicket cheaply. After this, Virat Kohli shared a 38-run partnership for the second wicket with Mayank Agarwal (24 off 18 balls). Captain Rajat Patidar (26 off 16 balls) could not play a big innings. He shared a 40-run partnership with Kohli. Kohli was caught and bowled by Azmatullah Omarzai in the 15th over. He added 35 runs for the fourth wicket with Liam Livingstone (25 off 15 balls, two sixes).
After Kohli’s departure, Livingstone shared a 36-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Jitesh Sharma (24 off 10 balls, two fours and two sixes). Jitesh Sharma played a fiery innings, but in pursuit of a big shot, he was bowled by Vijaykumar. Jitesh played an innings of 24 runs with the help of two fours and two sixes in 10 balls. Arshdeep took three wickets in the last over. He took the wickets of Romario Shepherd (17 runs) on the second ball of the 20th over, Krunal Pandya (4 runs) on the fourth ball and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1 run). Arshdeep and Jamieson took three wickets each for Punjab. At the same time, Azmatullah Omarzai, Vijaykumar Vishak and Yuzvendra Chahal got one wicket each. For Punjab, Kyle Jamieson and Arshdeep Singh took three wickets each.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru has won the IPL 2025 title, after waiting for 18 long years. Bengaluru defeated Punjab by six runs in the final played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Batting first after losing the toss, Bengaluru’s team scored 190 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. In response, Punjab’s team could only score 184 runs for seven wickets. RCB is the eighth team to become IPL champion. Before this, Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings, Deccan Chargers, Mumbai Indians, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad have become champions.
