Free Sharjah Museum Entry This Week!

Calling all history buffs, art enthusiasts, and curious minds! This week presents a fantastic opportunity to delve into the rich tapestry of Sharjah’s culture and heritage, completely free of charge. From February 24th to March 3rd, the Sharjah Museums Authority (SMA) is opening its doors to the public, offering free entry to a treasure trove of museums across the emirate.

Explore Ancient Fortresses and Artistic Masterpieces:

Step back in time at the Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn), a majestic 1823 AD edifice that served as the seat of the ruling Al Qasimi family. Participate in the Al Hisn Towers workshop to uncover the fascinating history of this iconic landmark, learning about its role in defense, governance, and everyday life in the emirate.

Immerse yourself in the world of exquisite calligraphy at the Sharjah Calligraphy Museum. Here, you can create your own unique pendant featuring Arabic letters in a fun and interactive workshop. Don’t miss the “Honourable Ornament” exhibition, showcasing stunning calligraphy from March 1st onwards.

Discover traditional Emirati architecture at Bait Al Naboodah, a beautiful heritage house dating back to 1845 AD. Take part in the workshop here to learn how to paint floral and geometric designs on gypsum casts, channeling your inner artist. Additionally, the “Art of Architectural Decoration in the Emirate of Sharjah” photo exhibition awaits exploration.

Beyond Museums: Workshops, Exhibitions, and More:

The Sharjah Heritage Museum will host workshops highlighting Arab customs and traditions, providing a deeper glimpse into the cultural fabric of the region. The Bait Sheikh Saeed Bin Hamad Al Qasimi in Kalba will showcase a captivating photo exhibition titled “Geometric and Floral Ornaments,” delving into the artistic beauty of traditional Emirati structures.

SMA has also launched the exciting “Museums Express” initiative. This mobile bus museum will be stationed in Dibba Al Hisn on February 28th and in the Heart of Sharjah on March 1st and 3rd, offering visitors a chance to explore various museum collections on the go.
