The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) started an AI-driven digital platform that lets residents easily renew their visa. Calculation of visa renewals takes residents only a few minutes through the Salama platform. The platform provides automatic document download so users eliminate the need to file paperwork and reduce waiting times dramatically. Users who complete the login experience see AI technology display dependent visa status information along with the number of remaining days until visa expiration.
The system automatically handles the requested renewal duration as the applicant makes their selection. The platform streamlines the renewal of residency visas for family members with just a few clicks. The renewal process used to take between one to three hours to complete although it depended on document completion. According to Ghaleb Abdullah Mohammed Hassan Al-Majid, Director of the Data Science and Artificial Intelligence Department, the process duration for document approval now takes one to two minutes when documents are complete.

This service operates exclusively for visa renewals requested by residents at present. The initial stage will concentrate on resident permit renewal along with cancelation procedures but additional stages will increase services for visitors tourists and future GDRFA procedures according to the official. The Director of Al-Majid stated that the business renewal process will become accessible through the smart channel and the GDRFA DXP application during future developmental phases.
