Air Taxis: A New Era of Air Travel
Dubai-based private aviation operator, Air Chateau, has placed a significant order for 10 Integrity eVTOL air taxis from European developer CRISALION Mobility. These electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft will be capable of carrying up to five passengers and a pilot, offering a swift and eco-friendly mode of transportation.
While the service is anticipated to launch in 2030, the anticipation is palpable. With a top speed of 180km/h, these air taxis promise to significantly reduce travel times compared to traditional ground transportation. Moreover, as electric vehicles, they align with the UAE’s sustainability goals by producing zero emissions.
Safety and Innovation
CRISALION Mobility’s FlyFree technology, which enables the air taxis to move in all directions, is a key feature ensuring passenger safety. Unlike traditional helicopters with a single spinning rotor, the Integrity eVTOL boasts 16 motors, providing enhanced control and stability during flight.
The partnership between Air Chateau and CRISALION Mobility marks a significant step forward for the advanced air mobility (AAM) sector in the Middle East. Both companies share a vision of transforming urban transportation by reducing congestion and offering sustainable travel options.
A Race to the Sky
Air Chateau‘s initiative comes on the heels of the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA)’s ambitious plans to introduce air taxis as early as 2025. The RTA has been conducting extensive tests in California and the UAE desert, with the aim of offering affordable air taxi services comparable to Uber Black.
