Team India won the title for the record third time by defeating New Zealand in the final of the Champions Trophy on March 9, 2025. The final match of the Champions Trophy 2025 was played between India and New Zealand at the Dubai International Stadium. India defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in Dubai. With this victory, India won the ICC tournament for the seventh time.

Team India Wins the ICC Champions Trophy 2025

Rohit played a captaincy innings. He took India out of trouble by scoring 76 runs. This is India’s seventh ICC trophy. Earlier, the team has won the 1983 and 2011 ODI World Cup, 2007 and 2024 T20 World Cup and 2002, 2013 and 2025 Champions Trophy. India remained undefeated in this entire tournament and have won five consecutive matches just like the 2024 T20 World Cup.

India has won the title by defeating New Zealand by 6 wickets in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025. This is India’s second consecutive ICC tournament title. Earlier in 2024, Team India won the T20 World Cup. Winning the toss and batting first, New Zealand scored 251 runs in 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets. In response, India achieved the target by losing six wickets in 49 overs.

In the final of the ICC Champions Trophy, New Zealand batted first and scored 251 runs in 50 overs for the loss of seven wickets, in response to which India won the title match with 6 balls remaining. India scored 254 runs in 49 overs for the loss of 6 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja hit the winning four for India. The New Zealand team has once again lost in the final.

Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill gave a good start to the Indian team chasing the target of 252 runs. There was a partnership of 105 runs for the first wicket between the two. Gill was out after scoring 31 runs in 50 balls. After a few balls, Virat Kohli was LBW after scoring only one run in two balls. Rohit returned to the pavilion after scoring 76 runs in 83 balls.

Shreyas Iyer played an innings of 48 runs in 62 balls. He shared a 61-run partnership with Akshar but fell prey to Santner in the 39th over. Akshar returned to the pavilion after scoring 29 runs. Hardik Pandya was dismissed after scoring 18 runs. KL Rahul played a brilliant innings of 34 not out in 33 balls. Ravindra Jadeja ensured India’s victory by hitting a four on the last ball of the 49th over.

Earlier, Daryl Mitchell played the highest innings of 61 runs for New Zealand. Apart from him, Rachin scored 37, Bracewell scored 41. After winning the toss, New Zealand batted first in the Champions Trophy final and scored 251 runs for the loss of seven wickets in 50 overs. Openers Will Young and Rachin Ravindra gave a good start to the New Zealand team, who came to bat first. There was a partnership of 57 runs between the two.

Varun Chakaravarthy gave India the first success. He showed Young (15) the way to the pavilion. Rachin Ravindra was dismissed after scoring 37 runs. Kane Williamson could score only 11 runs in 14 balls. Tom Latham contributed 14 runs in 30 balls. Glenn Phillips played an innings of 34 runs. In the 46th over, Mohammad Shami gave India a big success by dismissing Daryl Mitchell. Daryl Mitchell played a fighting innings of 63 runs in 101 balls with three fours.

Captain Mitchell Santner (8) was run out in the 49th over as the seventh wicket. Michael Bracewell played an innings of 53 runs not out with three fours and two sixes in 40 balls. New Zealand scored 251 runs for seven wickets in the stipulated 50 overs of the first innings. Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav both took two wickets each for India. Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami also shared one wicket each.

Indian team has won the Champions Trophy title for the third time after 12 years. Earlier, India won this trophy in 2002 and 2013. Rachin Ravindra, who scored 263 runs and took three wickets in the tournament, received the ‘Player of the Series’ award. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma played a strong innings of 76 runs in 83 balls in the final against New Zealand. He was chosen as the Player of the Match for this brilliant performance. Rohit hit seven fours and three sixes in his innings.
