Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni have a special relationship, which has been going on since the year 2008. Virat Kohli made his debut under Dhoni’s captaincy. Both the players played together in Team India for almost 11 years and during this time their friendship became very deep. Even after retiring from international cricket, Dhoni’s friendship with Kohli remains intact and whenever the two meet during the IPL, the scene is worth watching. Dhoni told how this deep friendship started and even today there is a line of senior and junior between the two of them.

Meanwhile, Dhoni has made a big disclosure about his relationship with Kohli. MS Dhoni said in a conversation with Jiostar that Virat wanted to contribute from the beginning. He was never happy with 40 or 60 runs; he wanted to score 100 runs and stay not out till the end. Therefore, he had the hunger to score runs from the beginning. The way he improved his batting and his will to perform took him forward. He increased his fitness level and always gave 100 percent on the field. So he was always like this. He would come and talk – ‘What could I do? I could do this.’
He said that we had a lot of conversations, and that made him open up. Then, he gave honest opinions to Kohli and that’s how the relationship progressed. This relationship was earlier between a captain and a young player, but once you have a conversation, you become friends. But he still feels that there is a line between them – senior and junior. However they are still friends because both are not captains. Which means there is a lot of time to talk before the toss.
When Virat Kohli left the captaincy of Team India, he revealed that only one person had contacted him and that was Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Virat Kohli had said that MS Dhoni’s message will always be memorable for him. On this, Dhoni said that he will talk about relationships, not about that message. He wants to keep it that way. Say anything to him and it will not come out, it will not reach any third person. So this trust is very important.
