Emirates: For many travellers, airline food can be a dreaded necessity. Bland chicken, mushy vegetables, and forgettable desserts often leave passengers longing for a taste of home. However, Emirates, the iconic Dubai-based airline, takes a different approach, elevating the in-flight dining experience with a touch of luxury – artisan chocolate.

Emirates: A World of Chocolate Awaits

On every Emirates flight, regardless of class, passengers are treated to a delightful piece of artisan chocolate alongside their meal. This dedication to sweet indulgence goes beyond a mere afterthought. In fact, 2023 saw a staggering 45 million chocolates served on board, satisfying the cravings of countless passengers.

Economy Class travelers enjoyed a delightful 36.3 million chocolates, while those in the newly introduced Premium Economy Class indulged in over 322,000 treats. Business Class passengers weren’t left out either, savoring a luxurious 8.2 million chocolates throughout the year.

But the real winners are undoubtedly those flying in First Class. Not only do they have access to an unlimited supply of these delectable chocolates, but they’re also offered the option to take away their favorites. This explains the impressive figure of 122,000 large gourmet chocolate boxes devoured by First Class passengers in 2023 alone.

A Curated Selection of Global Delights

Emirates takes its chocolate selection seriously. Flavors rotate every three months, ensuring frequent flyers have a chance to discover new taste sensations with each journey. This commitment to variety extends beyond catering to weary palates; it’s a celebration of the world’s finest chocolatiers.

Currently, passengers are treated to the exquisite offerings of Valrhona, a renowned French chocolatier with over a century of experience. Valrhona has even partnered with Emirates to create a bespoke luxury chocolate box exclusively for First Class passengers.

But Emirates doesn’t stop there. They curate a rotating selection of chocolates from some of the world’s most esteemed chocolate producers. Passengers can indulge in locally sourced delights from UAE favorites like Bateel, Coco Jalila, and Forrey & Galland. Beyond the UAE, the selection features international brands like Ireland’s Butlers, Belgium’s Godiva, Canonica, and Neuhaus, Ecuador’s Pacari, and the UK’s beloved Hotel Chocolat.

The selection process goes beyond mere brand recognition. Emirates meticulously chooses each chocolate based on a variety of factors, ensuring a delightful experience for every palate. Texture, taste, and the presence of popular fillings like praline, truffle, ganache, and even fruit, all play a role in curating this diverse and delectable offering.

Sustainable Sourcing and Ethical Indulgence

Emirates doesn’t just focus on taste; they prioritize responsible sourcing as well. When selecting chocolate partners, they consider factors like sustainable practices and ethical sourcing of ingredients. This ensures passengers can indulge in their sweet tooth guilt-free, knowing the chocolates were produced with respect for the environment and local communities.

So, the next time you book an Emirates flight, remember, it’s not just about the destination. It’s about the journey, and the delightful chocolate surprises that await you on board. From the familiar comfort of Economy Class to the luxurious indulgence of First Class, Emirates offers a taste of the world, one delicious chocolate at a time.
