Dubai Police has issued another warning to people living in the city and seeking employment, highlighting the increasing threat of fraudulent work visa schemes. This warning aims to ensure that individuals remain more vigilant and confirm all employment opportunities through legitimate methods.
The General Department of Criminal Investigation, through the Anti-Fraud Centre, stated that fraudsters are actively targeting individuals with fake offers of employment and visa sponsorship, with no legal or official foundation. The victims are usually enticed via social media, messaging apps, or informal networks and requested to pay initial fees in exchange for so-called guaranteed employment or expedited visas.

Dubai Police, as part of its current campaign of BewareOfFraud, stressed that there is only one legitimate means of acquiring a UAE work visa, which is by using official government websites or approved work recruitment agencies authorized by the appropriate authorities.
Verify Before You Pay
The police have cautioned job seekers to be highly guarded and to be cautious of any job or visa offer before handing over personal documents or payments. Governments threatened that no real employer or recruitment firm will demand visa application fees to be sent to personal bank accounts or cash deposits.
Residents are encouraged to:
- Deal only with licensed recruitment agencies and accredited offices
- Cross-check job offers and visa details through official government portals
- Be wary of individuals or online groups claiming to arrange visas outside legal procedures
- Avoid offers that promise “guaranteed jobs” or visas without interviews or contracts
The Dubai Police restated the point that any job opportunity should be backed up with the necessary documentation and registered with the accepted legal frameworks.
Reporting Suspicious Activity
Dubai Police stressed that reporting fraud is very important in safeguarding the larger society. Those residents who believe they have experienced suspected fraud or cybercrimes are encouraged to report it using the following channels:
- The Dubai Police smart app enables users to report incidents through their mobile phones.
- The eCrime platform, which is focused on reporting online fraud and cybercrime.
- Call 901 to make a non-emergency inquiry and get specialist advice.

Officials restated that awareness of the people and prompt reporting should play a major role in fighting fraud. The Anti-Fraud Centre advised them to always verify an offer by official means and never pay advance fees to strangers.
