Finding a parking spot in Dubai can be a challenge, especially during the holy month of Ramadan when families gather for iftar, the evening meal that breaks the daily fast.
The good news for drivers in Dubai is that the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has just released its paid parking schedule for Ramadan 2024, and it includes a welcome relief for those looking to park their cars during iftar.
Free Parking During Iftar:
Here’s the breakdown of the revised parking fees during Ramadan:
- Monday to Saturday: Parking will be free for two hours during the iftar. Fees will be charged from 8am to 6 pm and then again from 8 pm to midnight.
- TECOM Area (Parking Zone F): This area offers even more relaxed parking restrictions. Fees will only be applicable from 8 am to 6 pm, making parking free until 8 am the next day.
Important Exceptions:
- Multi-Level Parking Lots: These are the only parking facilities in Dubai that will charge fees throughout the day and night during Ramadan.
- Sundays and Public Holidays: As usual, parking will be completely free everywhere in the city on Sundays and public holidays.
Public Transport Updates:
The RTA has also announced the operating hours for various public transport services during Ramadan. Here’s a quick rundown:
- Metro: No changes to the regular operating schedule.
- Tram: No changes to the operating schedule.
- Bus: Bus routes will be synchronized with the metro schedule to ensure smooth passenger flow.
- Dubai Water Taxi, Abras, and Dubai Ferry: These services will stop operations during iftar and Juma prayer timings but will maintain an extensive schedule otherwise.
RTA Service Hours:
The RTA has adjusted its customer service center operating hours during Ramadan:
- RTA Customer Service Centers: Umm Ramool, Deira, Al Barsha, Al Tawar, and Al Manara will be open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9am to 12 noon on Fridays.
- RTA Smart Customer Happiness Centers: These centers located in Umm Ramool, Al Manara, Deira, Al Barsha, and RTA Head Office will remain open 24 hours a day throughout Ramadan.
Reduced Working Hours:
As per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE), all private sector employees in the UAE will have their working hours reduced by two hours per day during Ramadan. Additionally, ministries and federal entities will operate on a shortened schedule, working from 9am to 2.30pm, Monday to Thursday, and from 9am to noon on Fridays.
School Hours:
Schools across the UAE will also operate with reduced hours during Ramadan. The maximum instructional time will be capped at five hours per day. Educational institutions are expected to finish for the day by noon on Fridays to allow students and staff to attend Friday prayers.
