Al Mamzar Beach is back — and if you haven’t visited since the redevelopment, you’re in for a surprise. Dubai has officially reopened the beach following a Dh500 million transformation that has turned a much-loved but aging destination into something that genuinely feels brand new. For residents who grew up going there and tourists discovering it for the first time, the experience is now completely different.
The project has been one of the more talked-about developments on Dubai’s leisure scene this year, and once you see what’s been added, it’s easy to understand why.
A New Look for One of Dubai’s Most Popular Beaches
The redevelopment fits into Dubai’s broader push to upgrade its public beaches and make them more competitive as tourism and lifestyle destinations. The thinking is straightforward — if you’re going to market yourself as a world-class city, your public spaces need to reflect that.
Al Mamzar now covers millions of square feet and has been split into two distinct areas: Al Mamzar Lagoon Beach and Al Mamzar Corniche. Each zone has its own character and caters to a different kind of visitor, whether you’re after a quiet afternoon, a proper workout, a family outing, or something more private.
The supporting infrastructure has been upgraded throughout — green spaces, shaded seating, children’s play areas, cycling tracks, and better facilities across the board.

Floating Walkway Becomes Major Attraction
The feature that’s probably generating the most curiosity is the floating walkway — described as the first of its kind in the region. It connects Al Mamzar Lagoon Beach with Al Mamzar Corniche and gives walkers and cyclists a genuinely scenic route along the water.
Beyond the views, the walkway also serves a practical purpose. It helps divide the beach into separate zones for different water activities, which keeps things safer and less chaotic. One side is reserved for swimming and non-motorised activities like kayaking and paddle boating. The other side is set aside for motorised water sports. It’s a smart design that lets more people enjoy more activities without everyone ending up in the same space.
Night Swimming and Sports Facilities Added
One of the more exciting additions for residents is a 300-metre night swimming area. Dubai has been gradually expanding nighttime beach access across the city, and Al Mamzar is now part of that. Smart lighting and proper safety measures have been put in place to make the experience comfortable after dark — which will be particularly welcome once the summer heat really sets in and evenings become the preferred time to be outdoors.
Sports facilities have also received a serious upgrade. There are now volleyball courts, football areas, padel courts, outdoor gyms, and a running and cycling track that stretches over 5.5 kilometres. If your idea of a good beach day involves actually doing something rather than just lying in the sun, there’s plenty to keep you busy.

Women-Only Beach Experience Introduced
One of the most significant additions is a dedicated women-only beach area at Al Mamzar Corniche, which officials have described as the world’s first 24/7 facility of its kind. The space has been designed with privacy and comfort in mind — fenced surroundings, private facilities, sports areas, and a children’s play zone.
For female residents and visitors who prefer a more private beach environment, this is a genuine and thoughtful addition. It reflects how Dubai continues to develop its recreational spaces to be more inclusive and to serve a wider range of people and preferences.
Accessibility and Family-Friendly Features
Dubai Municipality made accessibility a clear priority during the planning phase. The beach is now properly equipped for People of Determination, with wheelchair access, swim chairs, and specially trained lifeguards available.
Families will find shaded relaxation areas, dedicated play zones for children, and waterfront dining options. The infrastructure has also been built to handle significantly larger visitor numbers without compromising on comfort — something that will matter as the beach grows in popularity.

Part of Dubai’s Larger Beach Development Vision
Al Mamzar’s reopening is one piece of a much larger picture. Dubai is working through a Dh3 billion beach development master plan that covers the city’s coastline more broadly. Upgrades at Jumeirah beaches, Umm Suqeim, and Jebel Ali are all part of the same long-term vision.
The goal is to expand public beach access, raise the standard of facilities, and build out Dubai’s reputation as a leading coastal destination — not just in the region, but globally.
Residents Welcome the Transformation
People who have already visited the reopened beach have been positive about what they found. Longtime visitors have noted how much more spacious, clean, and well-organized everything feels compared to before.
With night swimming, water sports, padel courts, a floating walkway, and a women-only section all now available in one place, Al Mamzar has moved well beyond what it used to offer. It’s shaping up to be one of Dubai’s busiest beach destinations this summer — and based on what’s been built there, that level of interest seems well deserved.
