Working Hours Reduced in Dubai: Amid the debate on increasing working hours in India, recently a new initiative has been taken in Dubai, UAE to improve the balance between the working life and private life of the people. In Dubai, the government has decided to reduce the working hours of the people.
This decision will not only try to create a balance between the working life and private life of the people, but will also try to improve the productivity of the people during work.

Successful experiment has been done in government institutions. This new initiative has already been tried in Dubai. Last year it was used in government institutions of Dubai and this experiment was also successful. For this reason, now it will also be implemented in the public sector.
When will this scheme be implemented?
The plan to reduce the working hours of people will be implemented in the public sector from July 1 this year and will run till September 12. It will be implemented under ‘R Flexible Summer 2025’.
What is this plan?
Under this rule, a four-day work week will be done for public sector employees and working hours will also be reduced. Employees will get three days off in a week.
Actually, this summer work plan focuses on keeping employees happy and increasing productivity as well as on the fact that parents spend more time with children during holidays. This scheme, which was launched for government institutions in 2024, showed positive results. This not only improved productivity, but also improved the work environment, satisfaction and happiness level of employees.

How will the working hours be distributed?
Like the first phase, in this phase also the employees of 21 institutions will be divided into two groups. The working hours will be according to the official 5-day week of the public sector. The first group will work 8 hours from Monday to Thursday and Friday will be a holiday. The second group will work seven hours from Monday to Thursday and four and a half hours on Friday.

No plans for the corporate sector at the moment
At present, no such plan is being considered for the employees of the corporate sector in Dubai. However, the UAE government has appealed to adopt remote working and flexible work timings across the country.
