Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: The International Cricket Council (ICC) have recently announced the revised schedule of the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup. The Indian women’s team will take on arch-rival Pakistan on October 6, 2024. However, India will start its campaign against New Zealand.
The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup will start from October 3. Earlier it was to be held in Bangladesh. But after many players raised security concerns due to political unrest there, it is now being organized in Dubai and Sharjah.
A total of 23 matches will be played at both these venues. The groups of the tournament will remain the same, in which defending champion Australia has been placed in Group A along with India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Group B includes teams from South Africa, England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Scotland.
Before the tournament, 10 practice matches will be played from September 28 to October 1. Every team will play four group matches in the tournament. The top two teams from each group will reach the semi-finals on October 17 and 18 and the final will be played in Dubai on October 20. A ‘reserve day’ has been kept for both the semi-finals and the final.
Sri Lanka and Scotland qualified for the tournament through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier held in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. Defending champions Australia are also in Group A along with India, Pakistan and New Zealand. Check out the full list of all the matches.
The tournament was originally scheduled to be held in Bangladesh but has now been shifted to the United Arab Emirates, with matches to be played at two venues – Sharjah Cricket Stadium and Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
