India-Pakistan cricket relations deteriorated after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in April 2025. The Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan is scheduled to be held in Dubai on September 14. The COO of the Emirates Cricket Board says that India and Pakistan will almost certainly play in the Asia Cup. India and Pakistan are scheduled to play in Dubai on September 14, and the two teams could face each other in the Super 4 stage and the final.

There has been tension between India and Pakistan since the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. 26 people, mostly civilians, were killed in this attack. As a result, cricket relations between the two countries have also deteriorated. Recently, 2 World Championship of Legends (WCL) matches between the two countries were cancelled as champion players from India decided not to play against their Pakistani counterparts. Similarly, the future of the upcoming Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan also hangs in the balance.

With just over a month left for the tournament to begin, Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Chief Operating Officer Subhan Ahmed has said that the chances of the two teams avoiding playing against each other in the Asia Cup are very low. “Although I cannot give a formal guarantee, there is no risk of Pakistan and India not playing. The Asia Cup cannot be compared to private tournaments like the World Championship of Legends, where India refused to play against Pakistan in both the league stage and the semi-finals,” Subhan Ahmed told reporters recently.

Dubai and Abu Dhabi have been confirmed as the official host cities for the 2025 Men’s T20 Asia Cup, which will be held from September 9 to 28. Dubai will host 11 matches, including the final, while Abu Dhabi will host eight matches. India will play their Group A matches against the UAE and the high-profile encounter against Pakistan on September 10 and 14, respectively, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, while their clash against Oman will be held on September 19 at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi.
