The UAE is on the verge of taking its love affair with the Korean culture to a whole new level. Have you ever stayed up late in a K-drama marathon, learned all the moves of your favourite K-pop dance, or wasted far too much time deciding which K-beauty serum to use? This is your kind. The UAE has made a formal declaration of K-City, a bold, giant destination developed in collaboration with the Korean government, a bustling hub for Korean food, entertainment, lifestyle, and business ventures all under one dynamic roof.
A Big, Bold Celebration of Korean Culture in the Gulf
K-City will become the ultimate destination where everything about Korea is located, providing an environment where one can feel like walking into an energetic part of Seoul. Although the specifics are only under development, the overall picture is vivid: a successful centre where K-culture, K-food, business exchange, and innovation led by Korean people will converge. Enter K-City and you will feel that you have been to Korea without having to board an airplane.

No wonder this new project is being done. The effects of the Korean Wave, or Hallyu, have increased manifold in the UAE. With K-dramas, K-pop, beauty products, and films, the audience of the UAE is completely saturated with Korean tendencies. Dubai alone has been experiencing an upsurge in Korean concerts, fan meetings, and festivals, and the K-Pop Night at Global Village has already become a large crowd event with thousands of people singing to their favourite idols.
The UAE’s K-Culture Buzz Is Real
K-beauty shops are sprouting in malls, K-food cafes are becoming more popular, and OSTs in favourite dramas are being played in lounges and concerts. Even niche cinema, such as the K-pop Demon Hunters, is getting new fans and growing the community.
The recent K-culture event in Abu Dhabi demonstrated the strength of the fandom. K-pop sing-alongs and Korean food stalls, beauty booths, and traditional performances made the event a little preview of what the future K-City might have in store, but on a far larger scale.

And even the wave is not weakening. Abu Dhabi is preparing to welcome DREAM Concert later this month, a giant K-pop-style performance, which usually fills arenas in Korea. This year alone, several Korean stars and K-pop festivals have been hosted in Dubai.
A Project Rooted in Strong UAE–Korea Relations More Than Culture
The launch of K-City was with the state visit of the newly elected president of South Korea, Lee Jae-Myung. As part of the visit, the two countries re-established their long-standing partnership that is characterized by the pursuit of a common agenda of making the UAE a cultural and business hub of the world.

The place and size of K-City are not yet disclosed, but it is likely to be one of the most anticipated attractions in the region. The initiative is under a wider promise of enhancing collaboration in major areas such as energy, national defense, people’s health, education, and above all, people-to-people relationships.
A New Cultural Landmark in the Making
Upon its completion, K-City will be a destination to come to not only for residents and tourists but also to the giant K-culture population in the region. Korean-themed immersive experiences, authentic food, entertainment spaces, retail areas, and business collaboration opportunities will make it a new way of interacting with Hallyu culture in the UAE. It is not merely a new attraction, but to fans, the largest celebration of the global Korean wave the UAE has ever witnessed.
