RTA Dubai is now striving to make traveling much better for people, by providing them with smooth rides. The first step in the process of change is being implemented by improvements in 4 major neighbourhoods in the city. Which Neighbourhoods Are Getting Upgraded?
1. Nadd Hessa
In a few months, it will become much easier to travel around Nadd Hessa for the residents. A two-lane roadway newly constructed and linked to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street will accommodate 6,000 vehicles per hour. The project also has a signalized junction that will greatly help in the reduction of travel time and will take it from the current 138 seconds to 37 seconds. This new road network is envisioned to connect over 300 000 people within the area and aimed at enabling efficient travel.
2. Al Awir 1
This neighbourhood’s 50,000 residents can count on a head straight 7.5 kilometres road connecting Al Awir 1 to Emirates Road. This new route will add a new road with double the passing through capacity of the area; it currently has 1,500 car traffic per an hour, new route will accommodate 3000 per an hour. With this improvement, people living there can have a faster, smooth drive within the least time possible.
3. Al Barsha South
Hessa Street Development Project will see an updated Al Barsha South give its consumers a fresh new look. These include extending the Hessa Street by 1.1 km to accommodate additional two lanes on each direction, thereby increasing the width from three lanes to four. A third left turn lane at a major intersection will also solve this problem; Currently, signal wait time can take up to 4 minutes only takes one minute. These enhancements shall address the need of 75000 people and increase carrying capacity from 6000 to 9000 vehicles per hour.
4. Wadi Al Safa 3
In Wadi Al Safa 3, there will be direct entry and exit from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to vehicles approaching from the Dubai – Al Ain Road. This new structure will slash travel distances by 10 kilometres and bring down drive time from 10 minutes to 2 minutes. 4 kilometres internal roads will be constructed or renovated giving the residents improved circulation within the compound and new entries to the estate will also be constructed.
Additional Upgrades Coming to Al Warqa
Al Warqa is also also in the process of a total overhaul and features a new front and back gate opening directly to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Even internal road network is also expanded by, 8 KM for increasing traffic. Once finished, the improvements will expand road available capacity to 5000 cars per hour and reduce travel time from 20 to approximately 3.5 minutes. As part of the improvements to traffic stream, roundabouts will be replaced with state of the art signalized intersections, thus increasing the capacity of Al Warqa 1 Street by 30%.
