Millions of Muslims around the world strive to maintain their daily prayers, and keeping track of the exact timings can be a challenge, especially across diverse locations. To make this easier, the Government of Dubai has launched a new international prayer times app called Dulook DXB.
How Does Dulook DXB Work?
This user-friendly app, launched on February 23, 2024, covers a staggering 50,000 cities across 190 countries. The timing of Islamic prayers, known as Salah, is crucial for Muslims and is determined by the movement of the sun. With five prayers performed throughout the day – Fajr (dawn), Dhuhr (midday), Asr (afternoon), Maghrib (sunset), and Isha (night) – having an accurate and reliable resource is essential.
Dulook DXB goes beyond simply displaying prayer times. It utilizes astronomical Sharia-compliant criteria to ensure accurate calculations, taking into account factors like altitude for precise timings. This unique feature sets it apart from other prayer time apps. Additionally, the app allows users to calculate alternative prayer times when the traditional Sharia signs might not be visible due to specific circumstances.
Developed by the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai under the supervision of the International Astronomical Centre, Dulook DXB caters to a wide audience. It is available in both English and Arabic and boasts accessibility features for users with disabilities. Moreover, the app aligns with the official prayer timings of many countries, ensuring its widespread relevance.
The launch of Dulook DXB comes just ahead of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting and prayer for Muslims, which is expected to begin on or before Tuesday, March 12, 2024. This timely introduction provides Muslims worldwide with a valuable tool to adhere to their religious obligations with ease and accuracy.
With its comprehensive features, user-friendly interface, and commitment to inclusivity, Dulook DXB is poised to become a valuable resource for millions of Muslims around the globe.
