Dubai Crown Prince, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched the Dubai Mallathon in a bold step towards the encouragement of healthy living in the scorching summer months. This grassroots program converts seven of the most frequented shopping malls in Dubai into early-morning exercise venues where residents can walk or jog in air-conditioned comfort and cool.

Between August 1 and 31, residents will have special phases during which walking and running tracks will be available to them on the grounds of the participating malls, such as Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Hills Mall, City Centre Mirdif, City Centre Deira, Springs Souk and Dubai Marina Mall, between 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. every day.
The Dubai Mallathon also follows the Dubai Social Agenda 33, Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 33, and the Year of Community since the purpose of such a move is to make healthy life more approachable and it should be a normal aspect of everyday reality. It is also indicative of a larger look at Sheikh Hamdan to make wellbeing the focus of the urban construction.

Through the Dubai Mallathon, Sheikh Hamdan said, “we are transforming what we know best into the spaces that will encourage us to move, connect, and change our habits to the better.” Each and every step you take brings us to a healthier Dubai. Via the Dubai Mallathon, we are transforming the spaces we know into catalysts of movement, community, and the practice of good habits.

Fitness, Fun, and Community Under One Roof
Dubai Mallathon offers residents an easy and free way of getting fitness in the summer temperatures that are hard to deal with. In addition to providing a secure physical activity site, the event contains:
- Fitness monitoring technologies
- Health awareness booths
- Mall restaurants that give special discounts on healthy lifestyle choices
- Assisted stretching exercises
- Kids wellness zones
The program or initiative supports individuals and families in integrating activity into their daily lives and also encourages them to remain connected to the broader community.
Why Malls?
The summer temperatures are very high in Dubai and this may make it difficult to exercise outside. There is a smart solution in malls, which boast a comfortable climate, safety and accessibility. This has the added effect of making conventional exercise a normal part of people, they need not go anywhere or make excuses, simply come, and walk in a place you enjoy spending time.

Who Can Join?
Everyone. It does not matter whether you are a child, senior citizen, first-time exerciser, or working in a mall, you can join. The competition is without charges and its registration is filled at the official webpage of Dubai Mallathon. After registration, registrants are issued with a digital card of enrollment. Participants will also be updated regularly and shown partner offers in order to motivate them through the month.

Not only a health campaign but also the Dubai Mallathon, which is supported by the Ministry of Defence and hosted by the Dubai Sports Council, is a social movement that seeks to redefine fitness and where we go to find it. This will be one more eyesore example of how Dubai is leading the charge ad global excellence in both city planning/design, and health and wellbeing, as malls become wellness airports.
Final Word
Sheikh Hamdan further said “it is our role to make sure that together we can change our city into the best place to live, working and visiting the world.” Sheikh Hamdan has once again reinvented public health in the distinctively Dubai manner- by combining convenient and innovative with community spirit, with the creation of the Dubai Mallathon. And this August, even the malls are where you should go to buy a new life.
