Ajman has officially banned all sorts of electric scooters on the streets, which is a decisive step toward better road safety and road user protection. The Ajman Police acknowledged the prohibition as they pointed out that the decision is one way of dealing with the frequent breaches committed by riders since most of them were observed as distorting the traffic regulations and subjected to danger, as well as exposing other individuals to a similar danger.

The previous warning had asked people to strictly adhere to road safety procedures, with the reinforcement of the advisory against the unauthorized use of electric bicycles and scooters. This was followed by a video that identified some of the frequent violations, like riding without any safety gear, moving against the traffic on one-way streets, using exit points to enter roads, and even driving into the road through the pedestrian crossings.

In the UAE, the governments have been increasing efforts to make the roads much safer when using two-wheelers. The video was released by Abu Dhabi Police a few days ago, depicting the dangerous use of e-scooters, and caused discussion among the local community regarding the need to enforce more rules. The video captured three people riding in an inappropriate place, and the police started to request residents to use e-scooters within the safe zones.
Enforcement in Other Emirates
Dubai has further introduced a special team to patrol any abuse by the cyclists and those on the e-scooters in unity between the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) and the Dubai Police forces. The program highlights the increasing fear of the safe introduction of such vehicles into the traffic of the city.

Politicians in Ajman emphasized that the safety of the people is the number one priority and urged citizens to comply with the new ban. It is also suggested to all riders that they should only use e-scooters in areas where they are approved and designated in order to avoid accidents and facilitate traffic.
