Dubai’s cultural scene is about to get even richer with the grand opening of the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum this weekend, coinciding perfectly with International Museum Day on May 18th. Even better, the museum is offering complimentary entry for the first two days, a fantastic opportunity to delve into the magic of this global event.

Expo 2020

Free Entry and Discounted Access

The Expo 2020 Dubai Museum isn’t just celebrating its launch; it’s celebrating museums themselves! To mark International Museum Day, the museum will be completely free to visit on May 18th and 19th. This free entry also extends to the city’s three “Stories of Nations” exhibitions, showcasing the international participants in the Mobility, Opportunity, and Sustainability pavilions.

But that’s not all! Visitors can also enjoy a 50% discount on other Expo 2020 Dubai attractions during the opening weekend. This includes Alif, Terra, the Women’s and Vision Pavilions, and the breathtaking Garden in the Sky.

A Journey Through Expo 2020

Whether you’re a Dubai newcomer or a longtime resident who wants to relive the city’s “greatest show on earth,” the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum has something for everyone. The museum offers a captivating journey through the entire World Expo project, bringing the visitor experience to life with a variety of engaging exhibits. Mixed media displays and interactive features, especially designed for younger visitors, ensure a fun and informative experience for all ages.

A Look Back and a Look Forward

The museum takes visitors on a fascinating historical walk. You’ll learn about the UAE’s very first World Expo participation in the 1970s, followed by an in-depth exploration of Expo 2020’s journey, from its inception and bid to the masterplan design and the challenges of construction. The exhibition doesn’t shy away from the unprecedented hurdle of the pandemic and the resulting postponement.

The story culminates with a focus on the historic opening ceremony, the six-month event itself, and the lasting legacy of this global spectacle.

Explore at Your Own Pace

Visitors can choose to explore the exhibits independently or join a guided tour offered every 30 minutes. The museum also boasts a well-stocked shop filled with Expo 2020 memorabilia, a dedicated Expo 2020 library, and a special treat for those who held onto their Expo 2020 passports – a chance to collect additional country stamps!

Beyond the Free Weekend

After the opening weekend festivities conclude, the Expo 2020 Dubai Museum will be included in Expo City’s one-day Attractions Pass, conveniently priced at Dhs120. Alternatively, you can purchase a combined ticket for the museum and the three “Stories of Nations” exhibitions – Dhs50 for adults and Dhs40 for children aged 4-11 (entry is free for children under 3).

So, mark your calendars and get ready to experience the wonder of Expo 2020 Dubai all over again! This exciting new museum promises an enriching and unforgettable journey for visitors of all ages.
