Your phone can do a lot more than order food and shop online. If you live in Abu Dhabi, the right apps can help you book a taxi, pay for parking, renew documents, and keep track of household bills, all without standing in a queue.
Some of these are government platforms. Others cover transport, travel, fuel, and savings. Here’s what’s worth having on your phone.
1. TAMM: Abu Dhabi’s Government Services in One Place
If you only download one app, make it TAMM. It brings hundreds of public services together, so you can manage a lot from your phone. You can pay traffic fines and utility bills, and handle parking, housing, healthcare, residency and more. You log in with UAE PASS, so there’s no need to jump between government websites.
2. Taxi Apps: Book a Ride in Minutes
Uber, Careem and Yango all work across Abu Dhabi. Depending on the app, you can pick a vehicle type, compare estimated fares, track your driver and pay digitally.
Yango also has a partnership with Abu Dhabi Mobility, which lets you book the city’s regular public taxis directly through the app. That gives you one more way to get around.
3. Abu Dhabi Link: On Demand Bus Rides
This app lets you book shared bus journeys within set areas, instead of relying only on fixed routes. You choose your pick up and drop off points in the app, which works well for short neighbourhood trips.
4. TAQA Distribution: Keep Your Utility Bills in Check
The TAQA Distribution app lets you view and pay your electricity and water bills, check how much you’re using, manage your account and reach customer services. It’s especially handy when you move into a new home, or if you like to keep an eye on monthly spending.
5. Darb: Parking and Road Tolls
Darb is made for drivers. You can register your vehicles, manage your toll account, check transactions and use Mawaqif parking payment options. It helps you stay on top of both parking and toll charges. For a full breakdown of parking fees and kerb colours, see our guide on Abu Dhabi parking and MAWAQiF rules.
6. UAE PASS: Your Digital Identity
Tired of creating new logins? UAE PASS is the national digital identity app. It lets you sign in securely to many government and private platforms without a separate account for each. It also supports identity checks and electronic signatures on eligible documents, which saves time on official paperwork.
7. UAEICP: Visas and Emirates ID Services
For expats, keeping residency papers in order matters. The UAEICP app, run by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, covers Emirates ID, residency permits and visa applications. You can track your applications and access available digital documents, depending on your eligibility.
8. ADNOC Distribution: Fuel and Rewards
If you often fill up at ADNOC stations, this app can help. You can find nearby stations, use supported payment options and collect points through the ADNOC Rewards programme. You can also check current offers and redeem eligible rewards on fuel and other purchases.
9. Etisalat UAE and du: Manage Your Mobile Account
Whichever provider you use, its app can save you a trip to the service centre. You can pay bills, top up prepaid numbers, check your data use, buy extra packages and browse offers. It’s particularly good for checking your data balance before it runs out.
10. Etihad Airways: For Frequent Flyers
If you often fly from Zayed International Airport, the Etihad app makes travel easier. You can book flights, check flight status, manage bookings, check in online and use eligible mobile boarding passes. Etihad Guest members can also track their miles and rewards.
11. Discount Apps: Save on Dining and Fun
Abu Dhabi has plenty of restaurants, attractions and activities, and these apps can make outings cheaper:
- The ENTERTAINER: dining, leisure and entertainment offers, including buy one get one free deals
- Fazaa: discounts on shopping, dining and other services for eligible members
- Smiles: rewards and offers on dining, shopping and everyday purchases
Some of these need a paid subscription or membership, so read the terms before you sign up.
How to Set Things Up Quickly
Start with UAE PASS, since many other apps use it to log in. Then add TAMM and UAEICP for government services. After that, pick the transport and utility apps that match your daily routine. You don’t need all 11, and keeping only the ones you use will keep your phone from getting cluttered.
Beyond Abu Dhabi
Plenty of residents also spend time in Dubai, whether for work, family or weekends. If you’re thinking about a move across the Emirates, it helps to plan your budget first. Our guide on 11 extra costs that can add thousands to your moving bill in Dubai can help you avoid surprises.

If you’re hunting for a new job along the way, here’s an unusual opening to look at: the Museum of the Future in Dubai is hiring “Futurists”, and no museum experience is needed.
Life in Abu Dhabi gets a lot simpler when your phone does the heavy lifting. Start with TAMM and UAE PASS, add the apps that fit your routine, and you’ll spend less time in queues and more time doing what you actually enjoy.
