Here’s a job post that doesn’t ask for a perfect CV. The Museum of the Future in Dubai is accepting applications for what it calls the world’s first “Futurists” roles, as it prepares to reopen in 2027.
The best part is that you don’t need past museum or customer service experience. The museum says it’s looking for human qualities that may not show up on paper.
Who Is the Museum Looking For?
The museum wants people who are imaginative, curious, emotionally intelligent, and adaptable. It’s also searching for excellent listeners who can connect with visitors, explain big ideas in simple words, and think fast when something unexpected happens.
Just as important, Futurists need to adjust how they speak depending on who is in front of them. A child, a student, and a visiting executive all need a different approach, and the role is about making each of them feel included.
What Will a Futurist Do?
The job mixes guiding, chatting, and storytelling. Futurists will turn the ideas and experiences inside the museum into real conversations, so ideas about the future feel easier to grasp. They’ll also help visitors link those ideas to their own interests and lives, whatever their age, culture or background.
They’ll walk with visitors from around the world through themes like science, technology, nature, society, and the future itself. The new experience is centred on human connection, with a fresh story about the museum’s vision.
The positions are full-time. The source says successful candidates will start in November 2026, although the application window runs until November 8, so that timeline may be tight.

How the Selection Works
The process has a few steps:
- Apply online
- Take in person performance assessments
- Get shortlisted
- Audition before a panel of expert judges
Candidates will be judged on communication and listening skills, quick thinking, adaptability and how well they deal with people. Those who succeed will be offered a place on the Futurists team.
How to Apply
Applications are open until November 8, 2026, through futureperfects.museumofthefuture.ae. If you’re interested, don’t wait for the last day. Spend a little time thinking about how you’d show your people skills, since that’s what the assessments look for.
The museum is also inviting the public to nominate people who fit the profile, through its official social media accounts. So if you know someone who loves talking to strangers and making ideas simple, you can recommend them.
Why the Museum Is Doing It This Way
Since it opened in 2022, the museum says it has welcomed more than 5 million visitors from over 180 nationalities. With guests from so many backgrounds, it wants staff who can respect different languages and cultures and leave a lasting impression.
Azza Abdulaziz Al Nuaimi, the museum’s Chief Operating Officer, said imagination, curiosity and communication skills can’t be measured by degrees, job titles or years of experience. She said the museum wants people who may never have pictured themselves working in a museum, but have exactly what it needs.
Moving for the Job?
If you land the role and you’re coming from another city or country, plan your budget early. Housing is often the biggest expense, but it isn’t the only one. Our guide on 11 extra costs that can add thousands to your moving bill in Dubai can help you avoid surprises.
Big Events Ahead in the Gulf
Dubai isn’t the only place preparing for the future. Up the road in Abu Dhabi, Yas Island is getting ready for a big night too. You can read about IIFA 2027 getting set for the global stage.
The Bottom Line
This is an unusual job ad, and a refreshing one. If you enjoy talking to people, you can explain tricky ideas simply and you stay calm when plans change, it could be worth a shot. Check the official site for full details and apply before November 8.
