Dubai has unveiled a new combined digital system aimed at simplifying the process of licensing and professional services of lawyers in the emirate. The Legal Profession System in the Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department is a unified digital hub that aggregates all services to advocates and legal consultants without having to engage multiple authorities to approve their requests.
The platform encompasses the entire lifecycle of professional licensing, including registration for new practitioners, licence renewals, amendments to licence information, and applications for law firms operating in Dubai. The entire legal licensing operation was integrated into one platform to be accessed more quickly and efficiently.
A Seamless Experience
According to the officials, the new system is an outcome of the ongoing digital transformation process in Dubai and is expected to enhance how legal professionals receive the necessary services. Rather than filing documents with multiple departments, lawyers can do it with a single online window, which is available both on the department site and on its smart app with the UAE Pass digital identity.
A drastic improvement in this change is the lessening of the number of documents necessary. Government departments have re-engineered workflows, which have removed redundant paperwork, automated internal reviews, and greatly reduced the turnaround time of applications.
Integrated with Government Systems
The platform works together with other government organizations to prevent repetitive tasks and delays. As an illustration, when law firms require alterations to their licensing arrangement, the approvals can be executed easily via common systems—reducing repetitions of the same request and reducing time wastage on follow-ups.

Dr. Lowai Mohamed Belhoul, the Director General of the Legal Affairs Department, indicated that the initiative emulates the department’s desire to enhance its digital capabilities in respect to the needs of the customers. He has mentioned that the enhancement of the accessibility, transparency, and efficiency of services has been one of the priorities, which is enhanced with the good collaboration with other regulatory agencies in the legal field.
Part of a Strategic Digital Vision
The system helps in addressing the strategic objective of Dubai to increase the performance of the government and decrease the administrative burdens associated with manual procedures. Additional features will be incorporated in successive stages as the platform proceeds to enlarge its online products.

Dubai lawyers are licenced and can only practice; thus, centralizing such services will help to increase compliance, reduce costs, and save time for both government teams and firms in the private sector. The relocation also enables law firms to concentrate more on client work as they bear regulatory responsibility without straining.
