Dubai International Airport (DXB), the busiest international travel hub in the world, has launched a cutting-edge AI-enabled passenger corridor that can now enable passengers to win through the immigration process in fewer than 14 seconds. The opening has been a significant milestone in the emirate towards achieving its travel beyond the borders program, a program that is aimed at providing velocity, safety, and efficacy of the movement of passengers.

AI Corridor Cuts Immigration Time Dramatically
The new passageway is built in a way that allows as many as 10 passengers to travel through it at a time, with facial recognition technology and pre-registered biometric data to identify them in seconds. Commuters will no longer be required to produce passports and boarding passes and wait in line at the immigration desks.
Lt. General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA-Dubai), stated that the corridor removes passport counters, smart gates, and manual checks and can be used simultaneously, reliably, and at the greatest level of security. Expert review is done in real time, with any abnormalities flagged instantly.
Al Marri mentioned that it is a move towards frictionless travel and a world standard on aviation security.
From Smart Tunnel to Seamless Corridor
Innovation is an addition to the so-called smart tunnel that was launched at DXB in 2020, making travelers walk through a biometric scanning zone instead of getting stuck at counters. The new corridor goes a step further in that all document checks are removed, and the security is implemented in the background process. As part of the wider Unlimited Smart Travel program, the corridor initially covers the First and Business Class lounges of Terminal 3, with further expansion to all terminals over the coming years.
A Passport-Free Future
It is the vision by the authorities that the system will abolish all borders and be a paperless system that is even faster than before in air travel. Since DXB operates more than 80 million passengers and has occupied a spot as the busiest international airport in the world for 11 consecutive years, the corridor is regarded to be both necessary and an example to the world’s airports.
