Team India, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will fly to Dubai tonight and begin their campaign in the Asia Cup 2025. Unlike previous tournaments, where the entire squad would leave from Mumbai together, this time the players are arriving from their respective cities, as the BCCI is taking care of convenience before the matches start. But there is a catch: this time, Team India is not travelling together.

DP World Presents Asia Cup 2025

The Asia Cup 2025 will run from September 9 to 28, with eight teams divided into two groups. India’s 15-member squad will assemble in Dubai by the evening of September 4, led by Suryakumar Yadav. This time around, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to forgo the usual group travel plan.

Instead, each player is flying directly from their hometown or wherever they are busy with domestic matches. This means stars like Shubman Gill, Hardik Pandya, and Jasprit Bumrah will join the team at slightly different times, eliminating the need for an extra stopover in Mumbai. Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Verma, Shivam Dube, and Axar Patel were also at their respective homes.

As the team assembles, their first practice session is scheduled for September 5 at the ICC Academy in Dubai. The team will then get several days for training and acclimatization, and is expected to have regular preparation and net sessions till the opening match of the tournament.

Indian Players Will Not Travel Together to Dubai

Notably, some players like Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Kuldeep Yadav are returning directly to the UAE from Duleep Trophy commitments and will join their teammates in the UAE. Standby players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, Prasidh Krishna, and Washington Sundar are not with the initial squad but can be included in the squad if needed later in the tournament.
