The RTA Dubai has launched an innovative new electronic initiative that will transform the process of driver training and license issuance in Dubai. The new system, called Tadreeb, harnesses AI and real-time monitoring to use advanced digital technology to transform the entire driver training and assessment process to make it faster, safer, and more efficient and help to license drivers.

A centralised digital ecosystem for driver training
The platform, known as Tadreeb, enables all certified driving schools in Dubai to be part of the same system. It digitizes the entire training cycle – from student onboarding to performance monitoring and final exams—eliminating the use of paper and disjointed tasks.
This project trains more than a quarter of a million trainees every year with 3,400 instructors and 3,000 training cars stationed at 27 institute locations nationwide. GPS is installed in each of the vehicles and connected to the system, so it is possible to monitor the route of vehicles in real-time and transparently evaluate their level of driving.
The system has already exceeded six million hours of training without major safety events since its launch, which demonstrates the capability of the system to improve not only operational efficiency but also the training outcomes.
AI-driven insights for better learning outcomes
The competitive advantage of the idea of ‘Tadreeb’ is its AI-powered analysis, which analyzes trainee performance data to tailor training. By showing strengths, weaknesses, and behavioral trends, the system makes sure every learner gets individual guidance, thus improving their chances of success on the road.
Key benefits include:
- Automated digital scoring that shuttles assessments
- Uniformity in the quality of training in all institutes
- Better supervision with centralised control boards
- Quick turnaround on training permits and service contracts
The integrated dashboards on the platform provide regulators and instructors with a real-time view of compliance, performance metrics, and training progress. This is also high visibility that not only enhances accountability but also enhances the general level of driver education in Dubai.

Faster licensing, lower costs
The reduction in waiting time and operating expenses is one of the most impressive features of the ‘Tadreeb’ platform. Automating major processes like issuance of permits, contracts on training, and compliance checks, the platform has:
- The waiting time for permit issuances was cut by half
- Reducing the administrative and operational expenses of the institutes
- Provided remote monitoring through RTA Smart Licensing Centre
- Achieved 97 percent trainer observation of mandated stages of training
In the case of trainees, this translates to reduced waiting periods, quicker approvals, and easier access to training schedules, a fact that will enable them to get their driving license as fast as possible.
Recognition on the global stage
The global recognition of the novelty of Dubai is already on the Tadreeb platform. It is the first driver training tool to be formally approved by the International Commission of Driver Testing (CIECA), which sets driver testing standards globally.
Moreover, in 2025, the platform received the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award, the global award in road safety, marking it as an international best practice in technological innovations in road safety.
Looking ahead: Smarter, more sustainable training
The RTA has expressed intentions to continue the expansion of the scope of Tadreeb in future phases. There are plans to further expand in the future, such as
- Employing AI-enhanced technology to design individualised learning experiences
- Using data analysis to conduct predictive intervention safety
- Additional automation of compliance and governance checks
- Forecasting what keeps the customer happy by using easy-to-use digital interfaces
By continuing to modernize its licensing ecosystem, Dubai aims to align its driver training benchmarks with global best practices and sustainability in the safest ways.

A new era for driver education in Dubai
As more than 250,000 new drivers are being trained annually, the introduction of the concept of Tadreeb opens a new level of road safety, performance, and innovations. Dubai is leading the world in the delivery of driver education by integrating AI, data-driven decision-making, and centralized control.
With the city expanding as fast as it is, this type of initiative strengthens the idea that the city of Dubai is following the trend of smart mobility and digital governance to create not just safer roads but also faster access to driving license issuing and receiving for both residents and inhabitants of the city.

A future-ready roadmap
RTA has plans to further develop the possibilities of Tadreeb with improved AI personalization, customer experience enhancements, and more intricate automation of training management processes. These innovations will put Dubai in the center of attention as a reference model in regard to driver training across the world, which is in line with the smart mobility agenda adopted by the emirate and its sustainable objectives.
RTA officials described tadreeb as a paradigm shift in the quest to improve traffic safety and smart mobility in Dubai and build its image as a city of innovation in governance and urban infrastructure. By reducing the distance between learners and licensed drivers, Dubai once again shows its commitment to becoming a successful digital government and also introduces a very real impact: it enhances safety, efficiency, and user satisfaction.
