Ras Al Khaimah has introduced a nostalgic element to the public transport network with the launch of a new classic taxi service, specifically designed to boost heritage and leisure tourism within the emirate. The initiative, implemented by the Ras Al Khaimah Transport Authority (RAKTA), combines convenience with old-fashioned charm, providing tourists with a more comfortable and picturesque means to navigate through the main attraction sites.
The classic taxis are also concerned about the journey as opposed to the traditional taxis, which are designed to ensure that the commuter uses them within a short distance. Sharing heritage-based design, it is destined to target tourists who might prefer a slower-paced and immersive tourist journey that would reflect the cultural nature of Ras Al Khaimah. The concept is to turn transport into a memorable experience of sightseeing, and not merely of transportation.

The service has been developed along well-chosen routes that focus more on recreational areas rather than on congested roads. Among the primary paths is one that travels through Marjan Island and connects the hotels, resorts, and recreational centers, not only to the island but also to Corniche Al Qawasim. This enables tourists to have easy access to waterfront attractions, dining spots, and promenades without using overcrowded urban roads.
A Heritage-Inspired Way to Explore RAK
The traditional cabs have a vintage-like design, which is in line with the cultural identity of the emirate. The service, as it is reported, is geared towards the purpose of making short point-to-point journeys more memorable by enabling the passenger to savor the surroundings instead of rushing through them.
With the launch of this service, RAKTA is targeting tourists who like to enjoy relaxing sightseeing rides in addition to providing the residents with a new means of getting to leisure destinations. The project promotes the overall vision of Ras Al Khaimah to create cultural appeal with modern infrastructure.
Routes Built For Sightseeing, Not Speed
The routes used in the classic taxi service are deliberately made to cover tourist-friendly territories instead of the commuter roads. One of them is Marjan Island, on which taxis work on the island and connect it directly to Corniche Al Qawasim. This allows tourists to move quickly and efficiently.
The other important path is located along the whole Corniche Al Qawasim waterfront, and it also connects cafes, walking paths, and tourist destinations. These scenic routes were selected in order to improve the ease of access as well as motivate people to discover Ras Al Khaimah in a slow manner.
Fixed Timings Along With a Bigger Tourism Strategy
The conventional taxi service will be utilized in a schedule where there are fixed hours, and therefore it will be predictable and reliable to the tourists who intend to go out. Although the service is niche in its nature, it contributes to the transport ecosystem diversification of Ras Al Khaimah.
RAKTA has underlined that diversification of transport is a key to enhancing tourism. With the emirate still trying to establish itself as a lifestyle and heritage destination, customized mobility offerings such as classic taxis can seal the divide between attractions and experiences.

It is through this launch that Ras Al Khaimah gives its transport network a new tourist-friendly facade that will attract visitors and residents alike to take their time and savor the sights and experience of the emirate more than merely getting where they want to be at the end of the day.
