With the world preparing to mark the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), the Indian Consulate in Dubai has confirmed a mega event that will be held on June 21, 2025, at the Expo Centre Sharjah. The celebration will also follow the international theme of “Yoga for One Earth, One Health” and will be used to bring communities within the UAE together in the ethos of wellness and holistic health.

This was announced by Satish Kumar Sivan, the Consul General of India in Dubai at a curtain raiser event that was held at the Indian Consulate on Thursday. The opening ceremony was marked by an exclusive chair yoga class in which local community leaders, members of the press, and yoga practitioners took part.

A Celebration Beyond Borders
Sivan expressed extreme delight that they are at such a period of the year where the community unites, not only the Indian community but all those who call the UAE their home in the quest of holistic health. Although Yoga is an Indian gift to the world, it is the treasure of the entire humanity. It makes us very pleased to host the 11th International Yoga Day in Sharjah this year as we enjoy the UAE Year of Community.
Mandatory Registration Now Open
In the curtain raiser, the Consulate also announced the special website to be used in registering participants: [https://cgidubai.zohobackstage.in/InternationalDayofYoga2025-11thEdition#/?lang=en]
The participants shall register through Emirates ID or passport information. Consul General urged the Indian expatriates in the UAE, individuals and groups practising yoga, and wellness seekers across all communities to register well in advance and participate in the event to celebrate it.
What to Expect at the Mega Event
The Sharjah event that will be held in cooperation with a number of community and yoga organizations, promises:
- Yoga sessions in the masses with an instructor
- Cultural dances representing the Indian heritage
- Engaging wellness activities
- Free yoga mats (first come, first served basis) (participants are advised to bring their own)
- Gates Open at 5:00 PM, while the Yoga Sessions Start at 6:00 PM
The Indian mission is also in liaison with the local authorities to organize shuttle services between the closest public transport hubs and the venue. The information about transportation and other instructions will be communicated closer to the date of the event.

Growing Participation Year After Year
Remembering the success of the previous year, Sivan stated that last year 5,000 people pre-registered, but in Dubai, the event was attended by almost 6,000 people. The consulate anticipates an even larger attendance this year with the location being in Sharjah, which further solidifies the investments that the UAE has towards international trends in wellness.
