The final of the Women’s World Cup 2025 was played between India and South Africa at the DY Patil Stadium. Team India won the match by 52 runs. With this, Team India won the Women’s ODI World Cup title for the first time. In this match, Team India was allowed to bat first and scored 298 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, the African team was all out for 246 runs in this match. Shafali Verma and Deepti Sharma scored half-centuries for India in this match.

Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana gave the Indian team a good start, batting first. They shared a 104-run partnership for the first wicket. Smriti scored 45 runs from 58 balls. Shafali Verma had a chance to score a century in this match, but she missed it. She scored 87 runs from 78 balls, hitting seven fours and two sixes in her innings.
Jemimah, who scored a century in the semi-final match, could only manage 24 runs from 37 balls. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur was clean bowled after scoring 20 runs from 29 balls. Amanjot scored 12 runs from 14 balls. Richa Ghosh scored 34 runs. Deepti Sharma was run out for 58. Ayabonga Khaka took three wickets for South Africa.

South African captain Laura Wolvaardt’s century went in vain
South Africa, chasing the target, also got off to a good start. Tazmin Brits and Laura Wolvaardt shared a 51-run partnership for the first wicket. Brits were dismissed for 23 off 35 balls. Anneke Bosch, batting at number three, failed to open her account. Sune Luus followed with 35, and Sinalo Jafa scored 16.
While the rest of the South African batsmen failed to make much of an impact, captain Laura Wolvaardt scored a brilliant century. She was dismissed for 101 off 98 balls, hitting 11 fours and a six. Amanjot Kaur took a brilliant catch. In bowling, Deepti Sharma took the most wickets for India, taking five.
Women’s World Cup 2025 Prize Money
With this historic victory, India’s women’s team was showered with money. The ICC had made a record-breaking increase in the prize pool for this season. Upon becoming world champions, the Indian women’s team received a whopping US$4.48 million (approximately ₹39.77 crore) as the winning prize. This is the largest prize money in the history of women’s cricket.

Meanwhile, runners-up South Africa’s women’s team also performed exceptionally well in the tournament. The Proteas, who reached the final for the first time, were also honored for their outstanding performance. The South African women’s team received a hefty sum of US$2.24 million (approximately ₹19.88 crore) as the runner-up prize.
