Dhruv Parashar’s talent shone brightly on the international stage during the 2022 ICC Under 19 World Cup. As a part-time spinner, he played a pivotal role in the UAE’s triumph over cricket powerhouses West Indies and Ireland. In the absence of key players due to Covid, Dhruv Parashar stepped up, delivering a remarkable performance by taking four wickets in the semifinal against West Indies and clinching the man-of-the-match award in the final against Ireland with an additional two wickets.

Continuing his stellar form, Dhruv emerged as a star for the UAE in the recent Under 19 Asia Cup. His crucial contribution included a miserly spell of 10-1-29-1 in the historic 11-run victory over Pakistan in a low-scoring semifinal. These consistent match-winning performances have catapulted Dhruv onto the radar of the senior team.

The Road to Senior Team: A Dream Within Reach

With his impressive performances at the youth level, Dhruv Parashar is now on the cusp of donning the UAE senior team jersey. Set to face Afghanistan in a two-match unofficial one-day series in Sharjah, Dhruv views every U19 performance as a stepping stone toward representing the senior team. He expressed his satisfaction, saying, “So when it does happen, you feel very satisfied, it feels like all the hard work and stuff that your parents have done for you and sacrifices that they have made and all the performances and hard work that I have done, have paid off.”

Dhruv Parashar, a self-proclaimed Chris Gayle fan, is not only excited about his personal journey but also about the future of UAE cricket. He highlighted the abundance of talent at the U19 and U16 levels, emphasizing that the UAE doesn’t just possess talent but has proven it by defeating five Test-playing teams at the U19 level since the previous year. Dhruv’s optimism and pride in his team’s accomplishments reflect the growing stature of cricket in the UAE.
