Dubai continues to set benchmarks in its smart mobility and trainee travel, as virtually all buses transporting people between Dubai and other main Emirates such as Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman and Fujairah now offer free Wi-Fi to their customers. Introduced by the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai in cooperation with the Etisalat, the initiative is supposed to guarantee unimpaired connectivity to passengers during the trip.

259 Buses Now Connected
There are 259 intercity buses now provided with stable internet connection. Communities will be able to use smartphones, tablets, or laptops during the journey (whenever they are travelling between cities) to use the service turning each commuter into a productive or entertained user.
Wi-Fi Now Available at 17 Major Bus Stations
The digital growth does not stop with the buses. Another area to get a free Wi-Fi is in the 17 major bus stations that include Al Ghubaiba, Union, Al Satwa, Gold Souk, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta, International City, Deira City Centre, Al Qusais, Al Jafiliya, Al Sabkha, Al Qouz, Jebel Ali, Oud Metha, Al Baraha, Hatta, Business Bay and Al Karama.
Extended Connectivity to 12 Marine Stations
Wi-Fi services have also been launched at the RTA to 12 of its marine transport stations that include Al Ghubaiba, Al Baniyas, Al Seef, Al Jaddaf, Al Wajiha, Business Bay, Dubai Festival City, Al Fahidi, Sheikh Zayed Road, Marasi, Godolphin, Bluewaters, Deira Old Souk and Bur Dubai stations.

Wi-Fi Also Available in Metro, Taxis, and Water Transport
RTA has been working on its mission to smarten and ease the user experience in the public transportation system in Dubai, and the new rollout is a part of it. Besides buses and marine services, Wi-Fi is currently being offered in Dubai Metro and RTA taxis, as well as in vessels operating in water transport, making the public mobility ecosystem of Dubai among the most integrated in terms of digital services across the globe.

Ras Al Khaimah Follows Suit
In the meantime, another Transport Authority in the country, Ras Al Khaimah has launched free Wi-Fi to all public and intercity buses in the nation in an effort to integrate an even more connected commute in the UAE. Under this programme, Dubai stands to be a world leader in smart infrastructure and transportation innovation and a day to day travel would be more efficient, enjoyable and connected to everyone.
