The Government of Dubai has declared that on the Hijri New Year in the form of starting the new Islamic year 1447 AH, on Friday, June 27, 2025, a day off will be given to state employees. The announcement is in accordance with the list of official holidays in 2025 approved by the UAE Cabinet. The national holiday is a one day affair on a Friday and thus government workers will be having a three day holiday and normal working hours are expected to resume on Monday, June 30.
Exemptions in Holiday for Essential Services
The announcement points out that except to some few essential services, the holiday will be observed by most of the government beings, departments and institutions. They are departments whose employees have a shift rotation or work on facilities or providing essential services to the community.

This will allow the exempted organizations to set the modality to give the employees with alternative working hours but guarantee that the operations will not be interrupted depending on the nature of their operations.
Private Sector Employees to Also Enjoy the Holiday
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) government human resources authority announced an identical holiday in the United Arab Emirates, the Federal Authority of Government Human Resources (FAHR), concluded the holiday is applicable by workers in the public sector throughout the Emirates, continuing with UAE coordinated either holiday treatment across the government and the private sector.
The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has equally announced a paid holiday on Friday, June 27, to all the employees in the private sector in the country. This will enable people with normal weekends on Saturday-Sunday to have an extra-long weekend between June 27 and June 29 since offices will go back to work on Monday June 30 making it a three day weekend.
A Unified Break After Eid Al Adha
This second holiday comes just after the Eid Al Adha break in the beginning of June and allows the residents of UAE to get some more time to rest and recharge this month. To workers whose weekend comprises Saturday and Sunday, the announcement will mean a three-day holiday from June 27 to June 29.
This coordinated day off marks the commonness of the approach to holidays in the UAE, which guarantees that the employees of the government and the economically active population do not have any unequal situations in terms of official days off and holidays.
