Ticketing Uncertainty for Dubai Matches
The PCB has posted match ticket costs for Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi games, but hasn’t announced anything yet for Dubai’s matches, including the February 23, India vs Pakistan clash.
Apart from official information, people say entry to Dubai Cricket matches costs 1,000 rupees for seats in the General Section. Tickets for Rawalpindi matches between Pakistan and Bangladesh on high-profile days cost 2,000 PKR (Dh26), but for semi-finals, they might reach 2,500 PKR (Dh32).
Right now, we don’t know anything official about where to buy tickets or how much they’ll cost. With no word yet on how tickets can be bought – online or offline, people are excited and worried.
Dubai Ticket Sales is Managed by PCB
India’s matches being slated to be played in neutral venue in Dubai means, the PCB will be handling the ticket sales and keep the revenue from gate wages and hospitality box sales. An insider says the ECB will now work with the ICC and PCB to agree ticket prices for Dubai enclosures and hospitality packages. ‘The Emirates Cricket Board will surely advise on ticket rates of the different enclosures and hospitality boxes prior to us making any announcement,’ the insider said.
High Demand and Limited Availability
There will be 18,000 tickets in total for spectators and how many of those can be bought by a single person hasn’t been revealed and whether tickets will be sold at the ticket booths or on the Internet.
The host country is then supposed to sell tickets and receive gate revenue and hospitality box revenue, under ICC event rules. They also host fees they charge the ICC.
