Dubai is set to launch its first accredited Bachelor of Music programme, giving aspiring musicians and music professionals a brand new higher education option right here in the UAE.
SAE University College Dubai is now accepting applications for the three-year, full-time programme, with the first intake set to begin in September 2026. Built around contemporary and electronic music, the course blends creative skills with real practical industry knowledge.
This launch comes as the UAE continues investing in its cultural and creative industries, aiming to grow their share of the national economy. The country has set a target for the creative sector to contribute 5 per cent of GDP by 2031.

What will students study?
This new Bachelor of Music course covers several corners of the modern music industry, rather than sticking purely to traditional music education.
Students will dive into subjects like songwriting, music production, performance, and electronic music. The programme also introduces the business side of things, helping students understand how creative work can actually turn into a professional career.
Along the way, the course covers artist management, contracts, intellectual property, copyright, social media, marketing, and creative business development. Together, this gives students a much broader picture of how the modern music industry actually runs.
Practical music production training
Hands-on experience is a big part of this programme. Students get access to professional-standard studios where they can build their production and audio engineering skills.
The course also includes live music projects and industry briefs, giving students the chance to work on assignments that mirror real world creative situations. That real-world exposure helps students build genuine experience alongside their academic work.
In the final year, students take on industry projects and complete a major production project of their own. All this hands-on focus is designed to help students build a strong portfolio while getting ready for professional opportunities.
Artificial intelligence included in music curriculum
One of the more distinctive parts of this new programme is its focus on artificial intelligence in music creation.
Students will learn about the AI tools increasingly showing up in songwriting, music production, and audio engineering. The curriculum is also expected to dig into the bigger creative questions that come with using AI in music.
That includes topics like copyright, ownership, and originality. As AI-generated and AI-assisted music becomes more common, understanding how these technologies affect creators and intellectual property is turning into a genuinely important part of modern music education.
Music business skills for future professionals
This programme goes beyond just recording and performing by introducing students to the commercial side of the music industry too.
Students will learn about contracts, artist management, marketing, and social media, along with intellectual property and copyright, both of which matter a lot for musicians, producers, and other creative professionals.
Creative business development is also part of the course. That should help students understand how artists and music projects build audiences, manage commercial opportunities, and operate in an increasingly digital industry.
Industry partners support the programme
The Bachelor of Music programme was developed alongside industry partners including Melody House and Muzikminds, along with songwriter and music producer Miklos Malek.
This kind of industry involvement helps connect academic learning with the day-to-day realities of professional music production. Getting exposure to experienced professionals also gives students a much clearer picture of current practices and expectations within the industry.
The programme’s practical projects and industry briefs are meant to build on this, giving students chances to apply their skills well beyond the traditional classroom.
Degree delivered through SAE University College Australia
SAE University College Dubai says the degree will be delivered through the international campus of SAE University College Australia.
The Dubai campus is licensed by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority, operating within the UAE’s higher education quality assurance framework.
This accreditation and licensing structure gives the new programme its institutional foundation as Dubai continues expanding its higher education and creative industry offerings.

September 2026 applications are open
Applications are currently open for students hoping to join the first intake of the Bachelor of Music programme in September 2026.
Additional intakes are also planned for February and May 2027, giving prospective students more chances to apply if the September intake does not work out for them.
The programme runs as a three-year full-time degree, making it a solid fit for students looking for a dedicated undergraduate path into contemporary music and related creative careers.
Scholarships and financial support available
SAE University College Dubai is also offering scholarships and financial support worth up to Dh50,000, subject to eligibility.
This kind of financial support could genuinely help bring down the cost of studying for eligible students, though applicants will need to check the specific scholarship conditions and requirements when they apply.
With music production, business, live projects, and AI all woven into the curriculum, this new degree reflects just how much the skills needed across today’s global music industry have changed.
