Passport Seva 2.0: The Consulate General of India in Dubai has proclaimed the implementation of the Global Passport Seva Programme (GPSP 2.0) on October 28, 2025, and the passport services to Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in the UAE took a significant milestone.

Passport Seva 2.0

The targeted new system will ease the process of application, minimize waiting, and present next-generation e-passports with secured electronic chips to improve the security level and the speed of immigration.

A new era of digital passport services

Passport Seva 2.0 will also see the introduction of a new online portal where all applicants will have to apply and register. The new platform will enable individuals to submit ICAO-compliant photos, digital signatures, and supporting documents directly, and this will make the system more convenient and reduce the manual paperwork.

The project belongs to the ongoing mission of India to digitize its consular services and make them more accessible to its large diaspora in the UAE. The Consulate reports that the relocation will align passport services to international best practices and will greatly enhance the customer experience among the applicants in Dubai.

E-passports: faster, safer, and globally accepted

One of the main attractions of Passport Seva 2.0 is the e-passports. These will carry a safe chip with digitized personal and biometric information of the passport holder. The superior security measures will not only prevent tampering of data and duplication but will also hasten the process of immigration clearance at all airports around the world.

The technology streamlines the standards of the Indian passport to conform with the international travel and identification standards and simplifies the process of travel of millions of Indian citizens overseas.

Simplified corrections and reduced processing time

Among the most convenient improvements in the new system, minor corrections will be carried out by authorized service providers, without the applicant having to rewrite the forms or pay additional charges.

Physical verification will also persist at BLS International Centers, although the new online capabilities are likely to reduce the time necessary to make appointments and to process the information dramatically.

How to apply

To access the new system, applicants must:

  2. Log in and generate a new application.
  3. Print the completed form and book an appointment through BLS International.

The applicant is also encouraged to adhere to the ICAO photograph requirements, which are posted on the official Consulate site, to be processed successfully.

A step toward smarter consular services

The update was confirmed by the Consulate General of India in Dubai, through an official post on X (formerly Twitter), that the launch of GPSP 2.0 is one of the ongoing attempts by India to modernize and digitize its consular services to its citizens abroad.

Passport Seva 2.0 to Launch in Dubai

The Passport Seva 2.0 introduces the NRIs of Dubai to a safer, faster, and even more globally integrated passport service, which will be indicative of the efforts that India has put in to achieving digital transformation and convenience to its citizens.
