The UAE is preparing to mark the 54th Eid Al Etihad, and the enthusiasm is flowing throughout the entire seven emirates. As the residents are now going to have a four-day paid holiday, the long weekend will be packed with fireworks, parades, and community events, as well as family get-togethers.

However, with the increase in celebrations, the Ministry of Interior (MOI) has made it very clear that first things first. In order to make the National Day stress-free and safe, the government has published a list of prohibited actions and reminded the public that any expressions of patriotism should not harm lives or interfere with the social order.

Celebrating Safely: What Residents Can Do
Before the restrictions, the authorities were urging the citizens to demonstrate their national pride in safe and approved ways, including
- Using official Eid Al Etihad vehicle stickers
- Raising the UAE flag at homes and workplaces
- Participating in authorized community events
These low-tech gestures, as authorities have observed, contribute to the preservation of the unity spirit without the violation of the public order.
11 Activities Banned During Eid Al Etihad Celebrations
The MOI has forbidden the following practices during the National Day festivities to avoid accidents and keep the people safe:
- Participating in unauthorised parades or forming random gatherings
- Obstructing traffic or blocking public roads
- Reckless stunt driving
- Leaning or hanging out of windows or sunroofs
- Overloading vehicles with passengers
- Covering windows or concealing licence plates
- Making unauthorised car modifications or creating excessive noise
- Wearing scarves not related to Eid Al Etihad
- Raising any flag other than the UAE flag
- Using spray paint on vehicles
- Playing loud music that is not National Day–related
The governments stressed that infractions will result in serious consequences, such as imposing fines and impounding the vehicle. It is encouraged that drivers not break the rules and be alert to limit disruptions and have safer roads.

Hoisting the UAE Flag: Rules Everyone Must Follow
One of the most important expressions of patriotism by residents during Eid Al Etihad is the display of the UAE flag. But it should be done with due respect and in line with the official recommendations.
The officials have proposed 15 guidelines on the manner in which the flag is to be handled, and these include:
- Ensuring the flag’s proportions, colours, and design match the official standard
- Keeping the flag clean, undamaged, and well-maintained
- Never placing it in a manner that could be considered disrespectful
- Ensuring it is properly mounted onto vehicles or buildings
- Avoiding any use of the flag that may obstruct visibility or create safety hazards
These regulations are designed to safeguard the dignity of the national symbol, and at the same time, the residents can celebrate with pride.

A Celebration Rooted in Pride and Responsibility
As the UAE gears up for its 54th National Day, the theme is on togetherness, pride, festivity, and responsibility. Regardless of whether it is visiting fireworks performances, decorating houses, or taking to the streets to participate in family celebrations, citizens are encouraged to be safe, abide by road regulations, and observe the social distancing rules.

With the long weekend around the corner, the authorities are encouraging all people to enjoy the weekend thoughtfully and to take care of the environment (and the organizations to maintain the environment being a priority). Celebration and accountability are the only two concepts that make the UAE National Day spirit shine the brightest.
